Overview

A Shaman (シャーマン Shāman?) was an individual who could connect with the realm of numerous spirits, allowing them to perform amazing and wonderful feats. This included acquiring skills and techniques through learning from their guardian ghost. They could seek advice from other guardian spirits, heal others, or gather guardian ghosts who had passed away in their world. Moreover, by communicating with the deceased, they were able to converse with great historical figures from the past.

Types

Types Description
Onmyōji (陰陽師?) Regarded as some of the most powerful and oldest shamans in existence, they have the power to control the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) and can divine the future.
Itako (イタコ?) Itako are women endowed with the ability to call forth spirits from the afterlife and back to earth it was significant number of them lack sight.
Miko (巫女?, lit. "shaman woman") Miko, the shrine priestesses, possess the ability to hear divine voices that frequently pertain to impending disasters.
Shugenja (修験者?) Shamans, in their quest for potent spirits, frequently undertake pilgrimages or adopt hermitic lifestyles, commonly known as "ascetics."
Daoshi (道士?) Daoists possess the ability to transfer a spirit into a deceased body, thereby reanimating it. They utilize talismans to command the revived the dead corpse, this was referred to as a Jiang Shi.
Necromancer (ネクロマンサー Nekuromansā?) Necromancers utilize their Furyoku to animate and manipulate deceased bodies at their discretion.
Kokkuri Master (コックリ使い Kokkuri tsukai?) Kokkuri practitioners foretell the future by invoking the spirits of foxes 狐, Dogs (?), and Tanuki (?) through specialized boards.
Witch (魔女 Majo?) In Europe, shamans known as witches faced ostracization and discrimination for their practice of witchcraft.
Yuta (ユタ) Shamans possess unique healing abilities. A potent Yutas is capable of resurrecting a deceased individual by utilizing their Furyoku.
